St Kitts and Nevis Continues Bilateral Agenda with Colombia

The meeting, held on 21 March and led by Ms Kaye Bass, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saw a number of senior officials from the ministries of St Kitts and Nevis join a four-party delegation from the Republic of Colombia.

Ms Bass welcomed collaboration between the two nations, which she said had improved significantly since the launch of the 2010 Colombian Cooperation Strategy for the Caribbean Basin, and kindled discussions on working together to improve bilingualism, academic mobility, technical education, disaster prevention, and management and security.

Several project proposals have been initiated by the two countries in recent years to advance community and development goals, including the Green Vervet Monkey Control Methods Programme, the Music Programme – spearheaded by the Batuta National Foundation, and the Craft Project for Cultural and Tourism Development.
The meeting concluded with mutual words of appreciation and a renewed commitment to pursuing inter-regional integration and friendly relations between the participating states.
